LINCOLN BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION ENDORSES CHILDREN'S SONG
The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission has endorsed Boston-based singer-songwriter Greg Cherone's patriotic children's song "A Man Named Abraham Lincoln."

Released in January 2006, in anticipation of Lincoln's birthday, the song
is intended to inspire children and adults to learn more about the 16th president.

The CD single is now available online at cdbaby.com. All profits are donated
to F.A.M.E. (Foundation for the Advancement of Malden Education.) A non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to Malden Public Schools in Massachusetts.

The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission was established by Congress to plan a "fitting and proper" national celebration of the 16th president's 200th birthday in 2009. Its members, appointed by the president and congressional leaders, include political leaders, jurists, historians, and collectors. The ALBC aims to renew Americans' appreciation of Lincoln's ideals of freedom, democracy and equal opportunity, and to encourage all people to "live the legacy." Children's Song Raises Funds for Malden Public Schools

Malden native singer/songwriter Greg Cherone released an educational Children's song entitled"A Man Named Abraham Lincoln."  A patriotic tune that celebrates our sixteenth President's life and legacy.   All profit from sales of the CD/Single are donated to the 'Foundation for the Advancement of Malden Education.' A non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to enhance educational opportunities to Malden Public Schools.

"Introducing Lincoln to any child and relating his accomplishments is the reward in itself."  Greg Cherone says. He hopes to inspire kids to learn more about one of our country's greatest leaders.

Lincoln's thoughts and ideals are cited in the lyrics and woven into a contemporary pop melody. The engaging simplicity of a question supplies the tag line of the chorus."Who was this man who took a stand?"

Children of all ages are invited to participate. An instrumental sing-a-long mix is included as a bonus-track.   The CD/Single is available Tuesday, January 3rd at 'New England Comics'  95 Pleasant street  ( Malden Square ) for $5.

Boston Singer Greg Cherone Releases Independent CD
Singer Greg Cherone showcases classic rock music style on new CD release.

(PRWEB) December 17, 2004 -- Boston singer Greg Cherone officially released an independent self-titled five song CD. The music can only be described as edgy, classic rock. If his last name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s Gary (Extreme/Van Halen) Cherone’s brother.

Indeed, a family affair, Gary was heavily involved with the production and also sang vocal harmonies. Their kid brother, Mark, played guitar on four of the tracks.

Greg’s got an anthem in “Birth of Rock n’ Roll.” A swinging bluesy tale of rejection in “Some Kind of Amnesia.” And even an acoustic ballad about a summer vacation spot located in Scituate, Massachusetts entitled, “A Humarock Song.”

The singer/songwriter used to front a Boston band called,‘Atunga,’ in the early 90's. Later he was one half of an acoustic duo with John Bettencourt. Nowadays, Greg is a husband and father raising a family. But he still finds time to write and record original songs.

His new CD is available at cdbaby.com

Cyberworld, meet Greg Cherone. Singer. Songwriter. Emerson College graduate. Some of you may remember a Boston band he fronted called Atunga. Or even as one half of an acoustic duo with John Bettencourt. Now raising a family in Massachusetts, Greg is a husband and father. And he's still writing and recording original songs.

"OK! Let's make this clear once and for all. Yes! Greg Cherone is the brother of Gary (Ex-Van Halen/Extreme), and No! He's not trying to sound like his brother of Extreme." They are obviously both inspired by the 70's rock of Queen and such. Not that strange either since they were brought up in the same house. They were bound to hear what the other was playing on the stereo .. one way or another (turn down that crap you piece of ...).

These songs are all of good quality. Musicians include yet another Cherone on lead guitar (Mark of o.k.panic), Stephen Powell on bass, and Steve Catizone on piano. Greg's voice is definitely up there along with his bro' and the music is heavily inspired by the 70's. It's not heavy metal for sure but rather basic rock with soul and warmth." - Urban Wallstrom - rockunited.com

A HUMAROCK SONG

"The song itself evokes James Taylor's early work, with its laid back, easy rolling verses, and Greg's clear, buttery baritone. And the tone of personal reminiscence is impossible to miss." Jay N. Miller -The Patriot Ledger
